My Focus Areas
It's a little difficult to narrow down exactly what a Pain Coach focuses on because the answer really is - I focus on YOU! Every person with chronic pain has their own unique story and is starting from their own point in the journey. And that's where we start working together. But if I had to break down the most common areas I cover it would likely be the six you find on this page.

Pain Education
There comes a time in most of our chronic pain journeys when we are totally bamboozled. The tests are inconclusive, you're not making progress, the meds have awful side-effects and you're staring down treatments you don't really want. You might even be beginning to wonder if it is all really in your head like you suspect others are saying. I'm here to help you navigate the maze and find answers about where your pain is coming from and arming yourself with the knowledge you need to put yourself back in the drivers seat on your health journey. I hope you'll find the content on the website, blog and upcoming podcast useful but you can certainly expect even more knowledge in my 1:1 coaching program or group coaching sessions.

Pain Minimisation Techniques
When we live with chronic pain it can be so hard to know what to do. How do we know what tips and techniques to follow to help ourselves? You may or may not be able to erase pain totally, but there are numerous techniques backed by science that can help. Try a few on for size and see what works for you. I've become a firm believer that there is no magic one size fits all treatment. My aim is to continually research the latest ideas and old favourites in order to guide you in the process of finding what works for YOU.

Goal Setting with Pain & Beyond
There are times in our chronic pain journey when it is easy to stop setting goals or having hope there will be a fulfilling future. I've been there and I know what it's like to get out of the shower and know that's going to be the big achievement of the day. But it is possible to move on from that, starting where you are now and taking small steps that aren't going to overdo things and send you spiralling down again. Sometimes it feels like we need to move through a grief process before we can move on - grieving for who we were, and who we might have been. And you know what? That's not weird, in fact I think not facing those feelings can hold us back from embracing ourselves as we are and as we have the potential to become. It was when I came out the other side of that process, that I was able to find new passions and a new career that I'm incredibly passionate about. What do you think we'll uncover for you?

Communication, Assertiveness & Patient Advocacy
I feel so passionate about this one! You know there's not another soul on the planet with a higher stake in your health journey than YOU! So many people feel flustered at doctor's appointments and struggle to ask questions, put forward alternative ideas or otherwise stand up for their rights. For some people it's family, friends or work where they keep quiet when they really want to be heard. Together we can work on your ability to speak up respectfully but firmly and be your own best health advocate.

Speaking & Media
So, so many people struggle with chronic pain and illness and yet the general population can lack understanding and knowledge of what that means for us. If you would like me to speak at a community event, on your podcast, or other media please contact me with the details and let's see what we can arrange.
